It's even harder to switch careers back in China, because most other available opportunities that do not involve the same level of work load will entail a significant step-down in income. And unlike in the US, here one actually needs to make a decent amount of income (or be in a position of power) to avoid becoming the victim of social inequality. It's a tough call.
