The Big 3-0-0

Friday, May 29th, 2009

With two days left in the month, I finally crossed the line, for the first time, in the 9th month at the firm.

三个表

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

Horse Triple-Horse —- I mean, Name Triple-Name

Times: German Court Upholds Ban on Extra-Long Names.

On a separate note, this week has been insanely busy. Got home and went to bed around midnight last night and got up at 4 to catch a 6 a.m. flight to somewhere. Last weekend was all work, this weekend is not looking good, either.

Did a bit of searching. According to this page: Horseshoes are lucky (like those old coins my grandma puts under the bed, I guess), but…

In order to glean the benefits, there are rules, too:
-The horseshoe must have been worn by a horse.
-The horseshoe must have been found, not purchased.
-(Mainly England/Ireland) The horseshoe must be placed facing up, or the luck will run out.
-(Everywhere else) The horseshoe must be placed facing down so the luck can pour on you.

Clerkship, redux

Friday, May 1st, 2009

There are many things I wish I had done differently, but I have often revisited, and never really regretted, my decision not to clerk, much like my decision not to transfer. People now speculate that one particular judge, along with several others, is considered most likely to be nominated to replace the soon-to-retire Justice Souter on the Supreme Court. If that does happen, I’ll probably have to revisit this question again and reach a different conclusion… Not that I would have gotten an offer with this judge (likely not), but at least I would be able to brag that I had once talked to a supreme court justice in person for half an hour.
