The Navajo rug that Ping and I bought in Arizona is just too nice (and too expensive) to be walked on so now it’s on our bedroom wall. And we are back in the hunt for a rug for the living room floor.
Ping and I were thinking about cowhide rugs. We began the search by looking at the all natural cowhide rugs. We like the fact that each rug comes with the natural pattern that’s unique to that particular cow, but it could also be a bit uneasy to stare at a piece of hide that still retains much of the shape of the animal (four legs, but no head). The last time I sat on something like this, the animal was actually walking around.
But we still like the idea of having a cowhide rug. So I kept looking, and thought the hunt was over when I saw Kyle Bunting’s work.
One of the many stunningly beautiful pieces by Kyle Bunting, all made from cowhide.
No price is listed for any of the items on his website except for a few on-sale items, which are still out-of-range for me. Besides, if I do put down $4k for such an exquisite piece of artwork, it’s most likely going to end up on the wall again, so I will be back in the hunt for a rug that properly belongs on the floor.
